Dr. Tony Signoret

Tonatiuh (Tony) R. Signoret, Ed.D. earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Chapman University in 1996, and his doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne in 2011. He began his career at Palm Springs USD in 1992, as a bilingual teacher at Agua Caliente Elementary School. Over the next nineteen years, he was promoted to Site Coordinator at the elementary level, Assistant Principal, and later, Principal at the elementary and secondary levels. In July 2011, Dr. Signoret was appointed as the Director of Certificated Human Resources.  Four years later he was selected to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Desert Sands Unified School District. In November 2017, he returned to Palm Springs USD as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. In his role as the Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Signoret has been a member of the Executive Cabinet and has been instrumental in all district-wide decision-making processes. He was recently recognized as the ACSA Region XIX Personnel/Human Resources Administrator of the year.

Dr. Signoret has been responsible for all personnel-related services for Palm Springs Unified, including approximately 22,000 students, 1,300 certificated employees, 1250 classified employees, and 160 management employees.

He is the lead negotiator for both certificated and classified contract negotiations, oversees the Risk Management department (employee benefit programs, worker compensation, employer liability insurance), and carries out personnel procedures relative to candidate recruitment, diversity goals, the application process, eligibility, interview procedures, and appointments for certificated, classified and management vacancies.

A long-time resident of Palm Springs, Dr. Signoret and his family have been an integral part of the community for decades.

Dr. Signoret’s accomplishments are extensive. He is a knowledgeable, skillful, and experienced leader. His wisdom and fairness have allowed him to maintain the relationships, the high standard of student and employee conduct, and ultimately the respect of many.
